The opening of the academic year 2024/2025 at the University of Bonn
The University of Excellence Bonn starts the academic year 2024/2025.
Traditionally, the University of Bonn opens the new academic year 2024/2025 on its foundation day, October 18. The joy over the achievements and great accomplishments of the university and its members was also mixed with a reflective tone - especially in view of the many conflicts in the world, the effects of which are also being felt in Bonn.
In addition to traditional elements such as the ceremonial entry, the program included academic and musical edification as well as an overview and outlook. In front of several hundred university members and numerous guests from science, business, politics and urban society, Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch reported on numerous top achievements of the University of Excellence.
History and tradition
The gown, beret, chain of office and scepter have always played a central role in the formal opening ceremony.
