The first Advent Sunday will start with the north tower facing the Old Town Hall. Starting at 5 p.m., the baroque tower lantern will glow a rich red. This is made possible by bright LED floodlights that are powered by 100 percent green electricity - just like the university's entire electrical system.
On the second Advent, the west tower on Martinsplatz will be added, and on the third Advent, the south tower on Kaiserplatz will also be illuminated. On the fourth Advent, the East Tower in the Hofgarten completes the light installation.
From November 25 to December 10, 2021, the Hofgarten facade of the main building will also be illuminated with spotlights in orange. The university is thus participating in the Zonta Clubs' "Orange the World" campaign to mark the UN Day of Remembrance to End Violence Against Women on Thursday, Nov. 25. The campaign ends on Dec. 10, Human Rights Day.
