Physics

Specialization in the Physics master's degree program is aligned with the University’s research focus, which is on particle physics, photonics and condensed matter physics. Dealing with interdisciplinary questions, students learn to connect the dots across disciplines and put their insights into scientific perspective. They furthermore learn to apply research methods and outcomes independently, responsibly and self-critically.

Students acquire the ability to tackle complex interrelationships and problems within the field of physics, using scientific methods to analyze them beyond the limits of the current state of knowledge and solving them to the greatest extent possible. This requires in-depth academic study in the areas of specialization. Building on basic scientific thought, students work through highly complex research questions to develop practical and strategic problem-solving skills.

Their in-depth analytical-methodological competences as well as their specialized and research-oriented mathematical and natural scientific education enable graduates of this degree program to flexibly meet the demands of a variety of professional fields.
