As part of the University of Bonn’s 200th anniversary, the Summer Party will take place on the new Poppelsdorf Campus, which recently went into operation. The beginning of the event is at 1 pm. At 3 pm, Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch and Bonn’s Mayor Ashok Sridharan will officially open the Summer Party. Shortly after, they will give the starting signal for the soap box race.
Information stands and hands-on activities are available around the central fairground, which is between by the new lecture hall and the blue library building. On the main stage, there is a sports and entertainment program, including the "Excellence Slam", which starts at 1:15 pm. In the lecture hall there are lectures and science shows. Food and beverages are provided on the catering mile.
Students organize music and cabaret
Thanks to the student’s engagement, two festivals have been integrated into the program. The Boom Fest, organized by the Cultural Department of the General Students' Committee (AStA), is being supported by numerous student groups and initiatives. At the evenings NatFak Festival, starting at 6 pm, mainly student bands play on the main stage. The main act is at 9:15pm with the Kölsch rock band Cat Ballou.
Soap Box Derby
All those interested can participate in the soap box race with their own creations. In each of the four race categories Families, Schools, Companies/University and Bonn, up to six teams will be entered with two runs each. An advance reservation is required by June 1st. Soap boxes can be built or borrowed. Attractive prizes and cups await the winners at the prize-giving ceremony at 5:15pm.
