Preliminary Course for prospective Latin students

Have you chosen Latin as your subject of study and want to brush up on your knowledge from school to make it easier for you to start your studies? Then the preliminary course for prospective Latin students is the right course for you.

The aim of the course is to review the Latin theory of forms, including the active formation of Latin forms, and to reactivate and systematize your Latin vocabulary. Furthermore, your translation skills will be deepened. It is recommended that you only take this preliminary course so that you can concentrate better on the course content and catch up on any gaps. You will use the same basic works that you will need during your studies:

the Latin grammar by Rubenbauer-Hofmann for the repetition of the theory of forms (ISBN: 978-3-7661-5627-3),

Vischer's vocabulary (ISBN: 978-3-11-020215-1)

and Phraseology by Schönberger (ISBN: 978-3-8253-5334-6) for vocabulary work.

For the work on the Latin text, texts from school editions are used as a transition to make it easier for you to get started. This will be used to develop translation methods that you will need for the different course formats of Latin studies. The following editions of Latin classics will be used: Ovid Ars Amatoria (ISBN: 978-3-15-019924-4) and Livius ab urbe condita (ISBN: 978-3-15-019911-4).
