is to be filled on a permanent basis at the earliest opportunity.

Faculty of Medicine

Deadline:

13.12.2024

Starting Date:

Earliest possible opportunity

The professorship serves to establish a working group that further develops the methodology of geriatric assessment and the evaluation of frailty, multimorbidity, and polypharmacy as well as the risk/benefit analysis prior to multimodal treatment planning for geriatric patients with oncological diseases. The aim is to optimize the assessment of the risk/benefit ratio for oncological treatments including surgical interventions at an advanced age.

Due to the various links with neurosurgery and conservative neuro-oncology, long-standing expertise in the fields of neurogeriatrics and oncogeriatrics is required. As functional restrictions in old age are significantly determined by aging processes in the brain, expertise in the imaging analysis of brain aging processes is desirable. Within the Center for Integrated Oncology (CIO), the professorship is intended to significantly strengthen scientific and clinical cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine/University Hospital Bonn and the Johanniter Clinics Bonn in the entire spectrum of oncology and geriatrics. The professorship is based at the CIO Bonn. The ability to connect to the areas of research focus and networks of the Faculty of Medicine and the University as a whole is desirable. Experience in teaching in the field of geriatrics within the Human Medicine degree program is required.

The successful candidate must have completed a degree in medicine and specialist certification in neurology with an additional qualification in geriatrics, habilitation or equivalent academic achievements and teaching experience in accordance with section 36 of the University Law NRW.

Diversity and equal opportunity

The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. It is certified as a family-friendly university. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are under-represented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore strongly encourages women with relevant qualifications to apply. Applications will be handled in accordance with the Landesgleichstellungsgesetz (State Equality Act). Applications from suitable individuals with a certified serious disability and those of equal status are particularly welcome.
