My research primarily focused on the activity of single neurons in the medial temporal lobe, such as the hippocampus, of epilepsy patients and its intricate relationship to declarative memory. This involved exploring how semantic concepts, represented by 'concept neurons' in the human brain, become interconnected and embedded within their contextual frameworks (Bausch et al., 2021, Nature Communications). Recently, my research includes wearable technologies for real-world investigation of memory processes. Drawing on previous studies in epilepsy and autonomic responses (Jordan*, Bausch*, 2019, Epilepsy Research), I am determined to merge neuroscience with wearables to advance both memory and epilepsy research.
