Dr. Stefan Lock is Head of the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Bonn, which serves the four States of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland. Together with his colleagues in Bonn, he is dedicated to promoting European exchange, strengthening trust in the EU, and addressing misconceptions and prejudices. During the job talk, he will describe recruitment procedures and career perspectives in the European Commission for university graduates, looking specifically also at the European science and research institutions.
Dr. Lock holds a doctorate in Political Science. He studied in Wuppertal, Pittsburgh/USA and Bamberg. Before taking on his current role in Bonn, he served in the European External Action Service (EEAS) in several countries, e.g. in Ethiopia and Eritrea, Afghanistan and Laos. He worked also for the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and for the United Nations.
