My research focus is the development of different detectors for detecting charged and neutral particles. The detectors developed by AG Desch are gas-filled detectors in which the ionization charge is detected using so-called GridPix readouts. Very high resolutions are achieved here, which can be used in a wide range of applications, such as in large tracking detectors in high-energy physics, or in the search for low-energy particles such as axions. New types of neutron detectors or polarization detectors for X-rays are also being developed in our group.
