Our group focuses on the isolation, characterization, and biosynthesis of pharmacologically active natural products from microorganisms. Our aim is to identify novel compounds with therapeutic potential by extracting and analyzing bioactive metabolites. Additionally, we explore the engineering of microbial pathways for enhanced production of specialized metabolites. By investigating the enzymes involved in these biosynthetic processes, we aim to optimize and modulate their activity through enzyme characterization and chemo-enzymatic synthesis techniques. Further investigation into the evolution of biosynthetic gene clusters helps reveal how genetic adaptations contribute to the diversity and functionality of natural products, advancing both drug discovery and microbial biotechnology. The ultimate goal is to develop sustainable, efficient strategies for producing valuable bioactive compounds.
