My research focuses on the question of phenotypic diversity and its origin. we use the genetic model Drosophila melanogaster, and a host of related Drosophila species to tackle the genetic, molecular, cellular and developmental changes promoting trait diversification. We follow two general directions, (i) the evolution of morphology and (ii) the evolution of behavior. Our work lies at the interface of several biological disciplines: Cell and Developmental biology, Genetics, Genomics, Quantitative and Computational Biology, Phylogenetics, Population Genetics, as well as Taxonomy.
