The aim of the video is to support you in developing viable individual ideas for professional alternatives to an academic career. Using knowledge input, examples, exercises for analysis and self-reflection as well as sample materials (e.g. sample CVs, practice questions for job interviews), the video will enable you to assess the situation for PhD holders on the labor market, reflect on your own interests and values, research possible career options, identify your own skills for the non-university job market, start the application process and plan the next steps.

Content

The Webcast consists of two parts:

Information about the situation of PhD graduates in the non-university job market
Specific guidance on how and where to search suitable options for you
An initial exemplary overview of career fields for PhD graduates outside academia
Suggestions and guidance for identifying your own professional motivators and reflecting on the skills you acquired in the academic system, as well as presenting these in the application process
Specific tips for your applications outside of academia

Is there a charge for the event?

No. Human Resources Development will cover the costs.

An event is fully booked, is there a waiting list?

Yes, if an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You will then move up if a place becomes available again in time before the start of the event.

Is childcare available during the event?

If you need childcare during an event, please contact the Family Office of the University of Bonn.

Are external persons also allowed to participate in the event?

In order to be able to participate in the training offers of the Human Resources Development of the University of Bonn, you must have an employment contract with the University of Bonn, be an active in research for the University of Bonn.

What does certificate or certificate of attendance mean?

You can receive a confirmation of participation for this event and of its contents on request.
