Conferences, symposia and congresses are the market place of academia. Here new results are presented, ideas are exchanged, and networks built. For academics the ability to organise such events is a core research management competency which is a highly ranked transferable skill. In this workshop, you will learn the basic elements of event management with regard to a conference. As a result, you can subsequently manage your event independently and professionally.

Description

In preparation for an academic event, it is important to put together an attractive program, secure excellent speakers, and usually also acquire external funding. All of this is hard work but worth it: A successful event vastly increases visibility in the scientific community and results in invitations to lectures. In addition, the tried and tested organizational skills pay dividends in later job applications.

This workshop is aimed at postdocs and doctoral students wishing to organize their own event, e.g., a conference. It supports you in the course of preparation. The planning of your own event is, however, not mandatory for your participation in this workshop. You will learn the basic elements of event management with regard to a conference. As a result, you can subsequently manage your event independently and professionally.
