Unconscious bias in appointment committees
A workshop offered by the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Unit
The workshop is aimed at members of current or future appointment committees. All status groups are addressed, especially professors. The event is based on an anti-bias approach and guides participants to reflect on their unconscious assumptions in order to consciously shape their professional role. The workshop is designed to be interactive and includes a mix of theoretical input, discussion, individual and group exercises.

The following topics will be discussed:
- Introduction to unconscious bias as a barrier to diversity
- Individual awareness to bias in the work context (errors of perception, memory and judgement)
- Unconscious bias in academia with a focus on different dimensions of diversity (gender, internationality, ethnicity, social background, ...)
- Anti-bias strategies and tools for different steps of the appointment process

Yes. If an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You may then move up the list if a space becomes free with enough time still to go before the event starts.
