Introduction to AI and Academic Writing
A workshop offered by the Human Resources Development
This seminar is dedicated to the increasingly important role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research, with a particular focus on writing and literature reviews. We will explore the practical application of AI technologies specifically tailored to enhance the research and writing processes in academia. In this introductory seminar, you willgain insight into the opportunities AI offers for improving the quality and efficiency of academic writing and literature reviews. The workshop content is split into two parts, with the first covering the use of ChatGPT and prompt engineering and it’s use in academic contexts, and the second exploring other AI tools designed to assist in the research and synthesis of academic materials. We will examine both the many benefits and challenges of using AI in this context. In addition to the opportunities, we will also address the ethical considerations and risks associated with the use of AI,
including questions of copyright, data integrity, and the authenticity of academic texts. The seminar aims to equip you with practical knowledge and skills to use AI as a powerful tool in enhancing your academic writing and literature review processes. Through interactive elements, such as case studies and group discussions, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with the content and discuss individual questions. After the seminar, you will also be encouraged to explore both the discussed tools and additional ones at your own time, to decide for yourself which ones can be useful to your own research.
