Introduction to AI and Academic Writing
A workshop offered by the Human Resources Development
This seminar focuses on the increasing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research and writing, providing practical insights into AI technologies' use in these areas. The workshop explores ChatGPT and prompt engineering, as well as other academic AI tools to aid research and writing, examining both benefits and challenges. Ethical aspects, such as copyright and authenticity of research results, are discussed, with the goal of equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to effectively utilize AI in daily research through interactive elements like case studies and group discussions.

- Recognise the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in academic writing and be able to use different AI tools effectively. Learn the different possibilities of ChatGPT with correct prompting.
- Learn how AI can be used for brainstorming and idea generation in academic contexts.
- Explore different AI tools that can facilitate research and writing.
- Create awareness of and evaluate ethical concerns and potential risks of AI use in publishing.
- Conduct critical discussions about the future role of AI in academia.

Yes. If an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You may then move up the list if a space becomes free with enough time still to go before the event starts.
Only some of the rooms in the “Alte Sternwarte” have barrier-free access. Should you need help getting in, please get in touch with your named contact in good time so that we can give you the support you need on the day of the event.

The further training offers provided by Human Resource Development at the University of Bonn are only open to people who have signed a work contract with the University, are enrolled as a doctoral student, are conducting research on behalf of the University or are an associated member of a research consortium.
You will usually be given a certificate at all our events that confirms your attendance at the event and its content.
We are also currently developing a range of certificates for three “career tracks”: “Research,” “Research Management,” and “Business and Organizations.” More information will shortly be provided on the web page for “Postdoc plus,” which is the name of the certification program.
If the event currently being displayed counts as credit toward one of the three “tracks,” this will be indicated accordingly.
