The Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional, and Engineering Sciences at the University of Bonn, Germany, invites applications for a full
Professorship (W3) – Mobile Sensing
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional, and Engineering Sciences
Deadline:
03.01.2025
Starting date:
earliest possible date
Data acquired from mobile sensor platforms has shown tremendous importance in Geodesy, Robotics, Crop Science, and other disciplines. We are seeking a person who can demonstrate relevant, internationally visible scientific work on developing methods for kinematic multi-sensor systems. This may include
- trajectory estimation,
- combining laser scanning data, RGB images, hyper- or multi-spectral data, and thermography data,
- methods for transferring measurements into meaningful features.
The new professorship will be part of the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2070 PhenoRob, focusing on crop production. Thus, the development of methods to measure phenotypic traits of plants in the field with high accuracy, high throughput, and meaningful data is mandatory for future work, but it is not a prerequisite for applying for this position.
Success in acquiring and implementing third-party-funded projects is a prerequisite. In teaching, the subject area is to be represented in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree programs in Geodesy and Geoinformation, as well as in the M.Sc. programs Mobile Robotics, Geodetic Engineering, and Crop Science.
The professorship is located at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation (IGG).
The conditions of employment are according to §36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
For further information on this professorship, please contact the chair of the appointments committee, Prof. Dr. Schoof, by email (dekan@lwf.uni-bonn.de). Applications submitted by 03/01/2025 are guaranteed to be considered.
