Joseph C. Miller Memorial Lecture by Sandro Mezzadra

How does “postcolonial capitalism” manifest today? The talk will explore this by examining global capitalism's development and its political implications. Key scholars like Lisa Lowe, David Roediger, and Dipesh Chakrabarty's views on capital and "difference" will be discussed. The works of W.E.B. Du Bois and F. Fanon will be introduced to analyze how colonialism, race, and capitalism intersect, highlighting the "black radical tradition" and its insights into primitive capital accumulation. The talk will conclude by questioning how racial and colonial aspects of capital and labor identified by Du Bois and Fanon reappear in former metropolitan centers today.
