The handover and first briefings around the new construction took place on Monday at short notice, and it was ready for use immediately after delivery, much to the joy of the roundabout 200 participants in the weekly on-the-water practice by University Sports. Even the teams that work out more often greatly benefit from the renovated stage.
“The new stage represents a big step for sports offerings at the University of Bonn,” says Dr. Peter Preuß, Head of University Sports. “After a year of using the stage of the Bonner Rudergesellschaft, our neighboring team, we are very pleased that our rowers are now able to resume training at our own stage again, safely and under professional conditions.”
Unsurprisingly, the new construction was delivered via water: Having left Andernach around 10 am on Monday morning, the transport ship arrived in Bonn three hours later, where the stage was set up within about three hours.
The construction was produced by SBS Andernach GmbH and can be comfortably operated by remote control—a modern, safe solution. Safety issues were the reason for the renovation that ultimately cost a six-figure sum.
The installment of the new stage means that the University boathouse is now ideally prepared for the coming rowing season.
