Since 2005, the alma mater has held a central ceremony to bid farewell to its graduating class. The Hofgarten park is the setting for the presentation of certificates, many congratulations, celebrations and the traditional "tossing of hats" as the highlight of the farewell ceremony.

The teaching prizes for the best teaching achievements of the previous academic year will also be presented.

30 stations waiting to be discovered

Graduates can choose from more than 30 stations, starting with the gown distribution: For example, after the photo station, they head via the flower stand to the interview at the radio station bonnFM and then to the Wall of Fame, always with the drinks stand in the corner of their eye, then to the alumni network and the University society UGB, to then also take away start-up advice from the transfer centre enaCom, health tips from University sports and Healthy Campus, not to mention the graduation photo; take another quick breath and then comes the big moment, the tossing of hats. This is a festive and energetic way to round off an important stage of life.

Admission to the Hofgarten is from 9.30 am. The faculties enter together with the graduates at 11.00 am. This is followed by the Rectorate. The Rector, Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Michael Hoch, and graduate Jannik Reber from the Faculty of Law and Economics will address the participants in the Hofgarten park.

After handing out the certificates and awarding the teaching prizes, University of Bonn alumna and Lord Mayor Katja Dörner takes the floor.

The hat toss at 2.15 pm is followed by a concert by the band "Druckluft". At 5 pm, the way home will certainly be easier with a souvenir from the University merchandise shop.

On Friday, 5 July at 6 p.m. c.t., the University parishes invite you to an ecumenical service in the Schlosskirche.
