As well as a place for excellent research and teaching, the University of Bonn is also an outstanding company to do an apprenticeship in, with an impressive four apprentices rounding off their training by being crowned the best in their year. “This success is down to the apprentices themselves, of course, but also to their training supervisors,” says Provost Holger Gottschalk. “We salute all of them.” He presented a certificate to all the former apprentices and the representatives from their training teams who were in attendance. The following people were honored:
• Sina Burmann, former apprentice and now qualified chemical technician, and the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry training team
• Nils Meiswinkel, former apprentice and now qualified precision engineer, and the Mechanical Workshop training team
• Mika Früh, former apprentice and now qualified sports and fitness administrator, and the University Sports training team
• Tale Vach, former apprentice and now qualified farmer, and the Off-Site Agricultural Laboratories training team
“We’re proud of how well our apprentices have done. The awards we’ve given out also demonstrate the wide range of apprenticeships on offer at the University of Bonn,” explains Denise Scheidt, the HR officer responsible for apprenticeships. “We now train more apprentice chemical technicians than anywhere else in Bonn,” adds Professor Robert Glaum, who has been responsible for organizing apprenticeships in this field for many years.
