Some 130 figures from the worlds of academia, industry, civil society and politics had gathered at the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn for the international BioSC Symposium, a platform for inter- and transdisciplinary dialogue for a sustainable bioeconomy.
Jorge Sellare (Center for Development Research, University of Bonn) introduced the five “Action Tracks” for sustainable agrifood systems agreed at the 2021 UN Food System Summit and explained the role being played by bioeconomy innovations with the aid of several examples: organic plant boosters, plant-based meat substitutes, nutrient-enriched food crops and biofuels.
Professor Jan Börner from the University of Bonn’s Institute for Food and Resource Economics (ILR) and Professor Annaliese Mason from the Institute of Crop Science and Resource Conservation (INRES) served as session chairs.
