Commenting on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Rector of the University of Bonn, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch, said: “The University of Bonn is mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She headed the British royal family for over 70 years and guided the destiny of her country with unbelievable humility and endurance throughout her long reign. We at the University are especially grateful that Her Majesty paid us a visit in 1965 and established the Queen’s Prize, which honors exceptional performances in English studies. This award will continue to serve as a reminder of this unique figure in the future."
The Queen’s Prize has been presented every year since 1965. The winners are chosen by a committee made up of employees and representatives of the British Embassy.
