Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, opened proceedings together with representatives from the organizers. During the three-day event, participants had the chance to quiz some high-caliber figures from the worlds of politics, higher education, business and non-university research.

The GAIN24 program included debates on specific topics, presentations on career strategies and some professional networking, while workshops gave the participants tips for their career development. One of these, entitled “Individuelle Karrierewege in der Wissenschaft – aktive Gestaltung von Karrierephasen und Übergängen unter Berücksichtigung von Fördermöglichkeiten” (“Individual career paths in academia—actively shaping career phases and transitions while considering funding opportunities”), saw Rector Hoch and Vice Rector Münch share advice and field questions.

Showcasing the University of Bonn

The University of Bonn also had its own booth at the Talent Fair, where representatives presented a wealth of information expounding the outstanding environment that researchers enjoy at the University of Excellence. Among other things, they focused on the Transdisciplinary Research Areas (TRAs), which are encouraging new approaches in research and enabling collaboration across subject boundaries. In short, the University of Bonn showcased itself as an attractive place for international top-level research.
