STIBET-Scholarships for International Doctoral Students

Individual funding

International doctoral candidates at the University of Bonn are eligible to apply for two types of scholarships under the DAAD STIBET Doctoral Students program funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Funding conditions

(1) Degree completion scholarships

Requirements: Good academic performance, successful degree completion expectable within one year
Scholarship period: 6 months
Scholarship amount: 750 euros per month
Application documents: Copy of student ID or confirmation of academic supervision or admission; resume; transcript; letter of recommendation from academic advisor stating the academic performance and the date of degree completion; application form (PDF).

(2) Scholarships for high-commitment doctoral students

Requirements: Good academic performance and demonstrated high commitment to professional, social and/or cultural activities/causes in an international context (such as: supporting a professorial chair in advising international doctoral candidates/students, providing social or academic advising, involvement in language tandem, involvement in cultural programs, the PhD Café or national/regional/ethnic-related educational events, functioning as dormitory advisor/supervisor, involvement in mentoring or tutoring programs)
Scholarship period: 6 months (with option to extension)
Scholarship amount: 450 euros per month
Application documents: Copy of student ID or confirmation of academic supervision or admission; resume; transcript; letter of recommendation from academic advisor outlining details concerning the activities and the academic performance; application form¹ (PDF).
