What about the conference left the biggest impression on you?
It was very impressive to see how many panels there are in my field and how many interested scientists are discussing highly topical issues.
How did your participation in the conference affect the progress of your doctoral thesis or your research design?
In the discussion following my presentation, I received new suggestions that helped me to look at my results from a different perspective. At the same time, the positive feedback and interest in my psycholinguistic experiments on the processing of generically intended masculine forms supported my interpretation of the results.
How relevant was the participation in terms of networking? What new contacts did you make?
I was lucky enough to meet several well-known professors and other researchers from the mid-level faculty. This allowed me to expand my network to the Spanish-speaking world and I had a very inspiring time. I very much hope that these contacts will continue and that there will be further exchange.
Would you recommend other doctoral students to participate in an international conference? Why or why not?
I would absolutely recommend it – it is exciting to get to know other discussion cultures and new topics. It’s also really helpful for your future research to network internationally. Not to mention that it’s great fun getting to know colleagues from other countries and exchanging ideas with them!
