In Portrait: TRA Modelling2
Our six Transdisciplinary Research Areas (TRAs) are spaces for innovation in research and teaching. They are where top researchers work together across faculty boundaries on key academic, scientific, technological and societal issues relevant to our future. The TRAs also offer unique opportunities for early-career researchers. Today, we are introducing the TRA "Mathematics, Modelling and Simulation of Complex Systems" which focuses on understanding complex systems through a combination of mathematical modelling, observation methods, computer-aided simulation and a creative mind.

With the “Doctoral Workshop” Grant, the University of Bonn supports teams of doctoral students in organizing workshops and other small academic event formats in which they work on an academic topic together with invited international guest scholars. Judith Alenfelder, doctoral students at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology, received a Doctoral Workshop Grant in 2024 to organize the 4th Transatlantic Symposium for Early-Career Investigators on the topic of G protein-coupled receptors (ECI GPCR).

On November 27, 2024, the grand hall of the University of Bonn's main building transformed into a place of connection and inspiration and around 80 new doctoral students were warmly welcomed to the University of Bonn. The aim was to give them a successful start at the University, provide them with valuable information on support structures, and encourage networking among peers.
