Central research topics concern phenomena of anxiety on a psychological, somatic, genetic and social level. Covered themes are the effects of anxiety on coagulation, the genetic and psychosocial causes for social phobia, the prevalence of anxiety and depression in chronic diseases and the effectiveness of psychotherapy in psychosomatic care. In psycho-cardiology and psycho-oncology we focus on health systems research and integrated care models. Transdisciplinary collaboration with the humanities is particularly important in our DFG research group on resilience, which aims at the development of a spirituality-sensitive, process-oriented resilience concept and its translation into clinical work. In this context we also focus on coping processes during the Covid pandemy.
