Our research group is dedicated to advancing MR imaging and AI-based automated image analysis particularly of infratentorial structures including brainstem and cerebellum. The aim is to establish reliable imaging biomarkers that allow to improve diagnosis, stratification and monitoring of progression in neurodegenerative diseases. This is complemented by the assessment digital biomarkers using makerless motion capturing. Our particular focus are comprehensive, data-driven biomarker-enriched disease models of degenerative sporadic and hereditary ataxias, a group of rare neurological movement disorders which are clinically characterized by a progressive loss of coordination in voluntary movements.
