The research interests of our group are centred around natural products chemistry, ranging from natural product isolation and structure elucidation to total synthesis, as well as structure-activity studies and novel synthetic methodologies. We are particularly interested in complex polyketides and in recent years we have assigned the full 3D architecture of several complex and often highly active representatives, developed tailored preparative procedures that enabled elaborate and often first total syntheses of the parent natural products as well as designed analogues thereof that retained potent biological profiles.
