Biblical Studies
Biblical Studies is an international and interdisciplinary degree program that is taught in English, covers two semesters, and is aimed at students who would like to immerse themselves in present-day research on Biblical texts enriched by the vast experience of European scholarship in exegesis. The study of the Bible in its literary and linguistic diversity is part of the basic theological and cultural-historical education.
Next to subject-related modules focusing on the analysis and interpretation of the original language texts of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, with consideration of the literary and reception history of these writings, students can choose an interdisciplinary module to expand historical knowledge or deepen their understanding of the current reception of biblical topics.
Students are enabled to independently analyze, interpret, and contextualize biblical texts and related literature as well as themes and traditions of different theological approaches. In addition, they will develop intercultural skills and the ability to participate in an international academic discourse.
