Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy

The master's program "Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (KliPP)"covers key aspects of psychotherapy, psychology and educational science and the key personal and professional skills required in independent psychotherapeutic practice. Graduates can develop psychotherapeutic procedures and pursue their continuing professional development. The program covers a range of research, theory, methodological and practical skills, including patient safety and rights and treatment effectiveness.
The program is run by the Department of Psychology (IfP) in cooperation with the University Hospital Bonn (UKB). While the IfP conducts research into clinical psychology, assessment and diagnostics, its outpatient clinic provides patient care. The UKB's Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy maintains a similar profile. Students train in two organizations active in the areas of psychological research and psychotherapeutic healthcare.
The course is the prerequisite for award of a license to practice as a psychotherapist in accordance with the Law for the Reform of Psychotherapist Training (Gesetz zur Reform der Psychotherapeutenausbildung last updated November 15, 2019). Award of the license requires accreditation of the program by the state examination office (Landesprüfungsamt).

University degree in psychology with a minimum of 150 ECTS recognized by the Psychotherapists Act (Psychotherapeutengesetz, PsychThG) and the Licensing Regulations for Psychotherapists (Approbationsordnung für Psychotherapeutinnen und Psychotherapeuten, PsychThApprO)

Applicants from outside Germany or another EU country must pass the aptitude test for university studies.
