Bergfest: Information on accessibility

Dear students,

We look forward to welcoming you to the “Bergfest” in the Botanic Gardens. We strive to make the Bergfest as inclusive as possible and would like to provide you with information on accessibility. We always welcome feedback and constructive criticism, which we will try to implement at future events.

Have fun at the “Bergfest”!

General information

1.

Barrier-free access and flooring

The "Meckenheimer Allee" and "Haupteingang" (main entrance) entrances are barrier-free. Most of the paths in the Botanic Gardens are graveled with relatively fine stones, a few paths are tarred. Some program items take place on meadows or in a greenhouse which is partially carpeted. Further information can be found below in the notes on the individual program items.

2.

Restrooms

The barrier-free restroom is located at the "Haupteingang" (main entrance) close to the Nees Café. You can also reach the restroom by moving through the Botanic Gardens. You are very welcome to contact us at the “Empfang” (reception) if you need any kind of assistance.

3.

Retreat options

We do not have a specific quiet room. However, there are many quiet corners in the Botanic Gardens to which you may retreat. Almost all meadows can be stepped on.

4.

Food and drink

There will be (free) pizza at the “Bergfest” 😊. The food truck with a pizza oven is located near the greenhouses and can be reached via a graveled path. You will find self-service drinks in fridges in the "Mittelmeerhaus” (Mediterranean House) next to the entrance. The fridges are on the floor and should be easy to reach. If you need assistance, please contact the colleagues at the counseling and information desks.

Notes on the program

1.

Empowerment stations

The five empowerment stations each take place in a 3x3m pavilion, which is set up on a meadow right next to a gravel path. To get into the pavilion, you have to move across a small step. The colleagues at the empowerment stations are happy to help you.

2.

Sports offers

People with physical limitations will be able to take part in most sports programs that are offered. Exceptions may be the yoga classes, which take place lying down, and some games available at the "Activity Bike". The “manual trainer” will be mostly rather unsuitable if you have physical limitations. The sports offers take place on a meadow. The colleagues on site will be happy to assist you with accessing.

3.

Advice market and poster walk

The advice market and poster walk take place in the greenhouses “Mittelmeerhaus” (Mediterranean House) and “Kalthaus” (Cold House) glasshouses. Access is at ground level, the flooring is mainly gravel and carpeted in some places.

4.

Time for you

The "Time for you" station takes place in the “Holzpavillon” (Wooden Pavilion), which unfortunately is not barrier-free. At this location, you may do self-learning exercises from the program booklet, which you will receive at the reception on the day of the event or find in digital form on the Bergfest website. You may also find yourself another quiet spot in the garden for doing these exercises. The materials for the "letter to yourself" are available in the pavilion, but you can get them from us at reception as well.
