Preliminary Course "Latin for Beginners (Latin I, Intensive Course)"

Do you need to know Latin for your degree course? However, you have little or no previous knowledge of Latin and would like to start learning Latin before you start your studies in order to reduce the time burden of this requirement? Then the Latin I preliminary course for beginners (intensive course) is just right for you!

In a total of 60 lessons, you will learn the basics of Latin in a compact four-week course. The course takes place four days a week with four lessons per day. Because the amount of grammar and vocabulary is very high, you will need time to prepare and review the course content. It is therefore advisable to only attend this preliminary course. At the end of the preliminary course, you will be offered a written assessment. You can take part in the assessment if you have not missed more than four days of the course. The aim is to reach the level of Latin I (L18 of the textbook; see below), which is a prerequisite for the Latin II course (internal Latinum), which you can then take alongside your studies.

The following textbook is required for this course: Latinum B, ISBN 978-3525714034. Please purchase the book before the start of the course so that you can easily follow along in class from the beginning.

There are up to 30 places available in each of the two course groups.

Credit of 6 CP in the "interdisciplinary practical area" of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is possible if you successfully complete the learning progress test.
