Emergency childcare and childcare during events
Would you like to participate in conferences and other official duties whilst knowing that your children are in good hands? This is possible thanks to flexible (emergency) childcare and babysitters.
Flexible emergency childcare - "pme Familienservice"
If your childcare is cancelled and you have to follow work commitments, the University of Bonn offers the possibility of emergency childcare at pme Familienservice (website in German).
General conditions
- Childcare for children between the ages of 4 months and 12 years
- between 6 a.m. and midnight, if necessary also overnight
- free use of the service: five childcare days a year per child
The facility is located in Friesdorf and offers guided tours for interested parents on the following dates. These only take place after prior registration via the daycare center management.

KidsBox - The mobile parent-child room
As a family-friendly university, with three KidsBoxes, we are expanding our range of services to support flexible childcare. The KidsBox is a moveable box that provides play and diaper-changing facilities.
The boxes can be used for childcare during university events such as conferences, seminars or celebrations, but can also be used for a longer period of time as part of a parent-child office.
- suitable for children between 1.5 and 7 years old
- usable for students and employees
- can be borrowed from the Gender Equality Office

Since 2019, the Office of Family Services has been offering childcare during events in cooperation with Proki Kinderevents for institutes and faculties. During meetings, conferences and other subject-specific events, professional care can thus be arranged for your children (aged between a few months and 12 years).
The institutes and faculties provide the space.
